Linkin Park's latest Projekt Revolution tour kicked off on Wednesday night (July 16th) in Boston with a number of highlights, including Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington and former Soundgarden and Audioslave singer Chris Cornell teaming up for a performance of Temple of the Dog's "Hunger Strike" during Cornell's set. The vocalist returned the favor later by appearing onstage during Linkin Park's show for a run through the band's 2001 hit "Crawling."

Bennington said during a recent meeting with reporters that Linkin Park enjoys getting as many of the tour's acts as possible to collaborate onstage: "All the bands are always -- like, we, last year, we invited everybody up to do 'One Step Closer'with us, but I don't think anybody came out. I think they were having too much fun hanging out doing something backstage (laughs). But, you know, we always, on these Projekt Rev things we always try to get everybody involved." [read more]

Linkin Park’s tour will once again help out Linkin Park ’s charitable organization when it kicks off today.

“We are donating a dollar from every ticket to Music For Relief on this tour,” says Mike Shinoda. “In the past, we’ve planted trees with that money, done work with Habitat For Humanity with that money in New Orleans rebuilding homes there.” The emcee says that with so many disasters of late, the band has yet to determine where the money will go, but they will once again help out those in need. Meanwhile, singer Chester Bennington says he’s also planning to auction off his PT Cruiser.

“It’s like one of my favorite things in the world,” says Bennington . “It’s very special and close to me and it was the first car I bought myself….I put a lot of love into this car and it’s totally customized and everything’s really cool about it, at least in my opinion.” [The Edge]
